The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has invited 2021 KCSE candidates to apply for first-time loans for the academic years 2022-2023.
HELB stated in a notice published on Wednesday, July 27, that it was targeting students who were planning to enroll in universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, HELB announced that it had opened a portal on its website for students to apply.
How to Apply HELB Loan Application for 2022
Interested applicants should go to https://www.helb.co.ke/ and sign up for a student account using their mobile number and ID number.
After logging in, applicants must choose the loan application option.
Undergraduate applicants must select the 2022-2023 Undergraduate First Time Loan Application Form (LAF), whereas TVET applicants must select the Certificate/Diploma option to access the 2022-2023 TVET First Time Loan Application Form (LAF).
“Print two copies of the duly filled application form. Ensure you preview the form and correct where necessary before you submit for printing. Have the forms appropriately filled and signed where necessary.
“Present one copy of the duly filled form and all the attached support documents at any of the Huduma centers,” read the notice in part.
Alternatively, applicants can submit the form to the HELB Student Service Centre, which is located on Mezzanine 1 of the Anniversary Towers in Nairobi. The applicants must continue to use the other printed copy.
Following the submission of a loan application, there will be progressive notifications on receipt, verification of application award, and disbursement of upkeep and tuition loans, as well as bursaries, as applicable.

Applicants, however, have been advised to submit their applications before the November 30 deadline.
