 Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining risk management and compliance frameworks in the required geography
• Assisting the organisation in license applications and acting as the key liaison person with regulators
• Cultivating an empowering risk culture in the company
• Advising the business and management team on risk and regulatory requirements
• Regularly driving adequacy and effectiveness assessments of existing operations
• Working with teams across the business to support the team in appreciating the principles behind key risk and compliance requirements
• Identifying opportunities to manage risk, improve customer experience and improve operational scalability more effectively
• Driving the risk and compliance roadmap, implementing system, product, and operational changes to support the strategic goals of the business
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of risk and compliance related activities to the leadership team, audit committee and regulators as required
• Contributing and supporting the business to maintain a regular cadence of forums and committee meet-ups to facilitate the risk management process.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in banking/financial services industry including fintech
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience taking a consultative, risk-based, first principles approach to compliance
• Knowledgeable on regulations and risk management best practice
• Experience in license applications and engaging regulators
• Ability to adapt and respond to a fast-paced environment
• Self-driven, curious, and supportive
• A combination of both Global and West and/or East Africa experience
• Experience with data analysis
• Familiarity with the product development process
• Payments and banking knowledge or experience
