SportPesa Limited, a renowned local company operating as part of leading global SportPesa brand offering sports betting business is currently looking for an experienced and highly skilled Tanzanian to fill in the position of Head of IT with a strong background in DevOps, Service Delivery and Project Management.

Job Summary

Head of IT will be responsible for overseeing all IT operations, ensuring efficient service delivery, systems functionality, strategic planning, managing projects, and maintaining a well-functioning IT infrastructure. The candidate should be capable of working with minimal supervision, leading a team of IT professionals, and driving the department towards success.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the IT department and oversee all operational activities, ensuring smooth functioning of the IT infrastructure and services.
• Develop and implement DevOps strategies, processes, and practices to streamline software development, deployment, and maintenance.
• Manage the service delivery function, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, efficient handling of service requests, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Plan, execute, and monitor IT projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess feasibility, and provide technical expertise in project planning and execution.
• Effectively manage the IT department’s budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve operational efficiency and drive innovation.
• Define and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to DevOps, service delivery, and project management.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in IT.
• Proven track record of successfully leading IT teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and automated testing.
• Background in a Telco/Mobile money environment would be an added advantage.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in budget planning, cost control, and resource management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on finding innovative solutions.
• Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, Agile, or DevOps-related certifications are highly desirable.
• Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT operations.
